Volunteer Opportunities

Are you looking for a way to give back to your community? Volunteering can be a great way for you to do just that! Here are several ways that you can be of help to Families Helping Families.

If you are interested in helping with any of the opportunities below, please contact us at fhf@wowway.com.

Fuel for our Families -This is a new program designed to help our families meet the burden of high gasoline costs. Any gas cards appreciated! This is a great program for school groups and church groups as they can pool their resources One gallon at a time!

Help With Other Fundraisers – FHF welcomes all volunteers. We help at Ribfest and Octoberfest in Naperville since the sponsors, Exchange and Rotary Clubs, are very generous supporters of FHF.

Mentoring – It is a privilege to be part of a family’s journey toward self-sufficiency. If you are ready for a new challenge (training provided) and have an average of 2 to 3 hours per week to spare, we need you!

Service Projects – Are you looking for a service project for your scout group, religious education class, bible study class, bunco group. etc?

Professional Services – Our families often need the services of an attorney, doctor, dentist, orthodontist, hair stylist, etc. These services are unaffordable luxuries for our clients.

Emergency Babysitters – Our clients sometimes need childcare help. They may be taking a night or weekend class, which is very difficult since childcare centers are not open then. Their child may have an ear infection and fever, in which case the childcare center will not allow them to attend. We are building a list of willing, occasional babysitters.

Mentor Support – There are times when one of our families has an emergency need such as transportation when their car is in the shop or similar circumstances. Can you be on call to help if you are available at the time?

Our 13th Annual Family Fun Walk is held every fall! - Families have been enjoying our annual fundraising walk for years! Bring your entire family; strollers are welcome. Details for next year's walk will be available in summer 2008.
